RUIM ( 2004 ) BOUKJE SCHWEIGMAN

The visitor journeys through the city, ending at a beautiful location somewhere in 's-Hertogenbosch: an alienating interior space. Within, experience and imagination speak. No words are exchanged, because it's about the experience that has no name. So-called obvious things are viewed from a different perspective. Sounds are all around. Behind every door is another door, while there are no doors at all. Behind every door is another door, while there are no doors at all. In Ruim, the traveler is detached within protective walls. The so-called reality of everyday life is temporarily abandoned to travel back in time, where there is no up or down. Completely full circle, back to square one.
